Homemade strawberry fruit snacks are easy to make and yummy to eat! These DIY dried fruit snacks don’t have any added sugar and are just as chewy and sweet as the manufactured fruit snacks. Homemade strawberry fruit snacks also have a tart flavor to them; a natural version of sour candy! We made our own batch of tasty strawberry bites in just a few easy steps.
Prep your Homemade Strawberry Fruit Snacks
- Rinse a quantity of fresh strawberries with water.
- Remove the stems and leaves and slice the strawberries lengthwise or in half. Larger strawberry pieces will produce chewier homemade fruit snacks.
- Don’t make the strawberry slices too thin or they will get crispy around the edges. I sliced the strawberries lengthwise, although you could cube them or slice them across the middle.
Bake your Homemade Strawberry Fruit Snacks
200 degrees – 3 hours
Lay the sliced strawberries on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake at 200 degrees for 3 hours. This may seem like a long time to wait, but it will go fast if you bake your homemade fruit snacks while doing other things. These low-maintenance yummy strawberry treats will slowly dry out and be ready to enjoy in no time!
My first batch of dried strawberry fruit snacks got a little stuck to the pan, so I recommend baking the strawberries on a layer of parchment paper. The strawberries will slowly lose moisture and turn a gummy leathery texture. If you’d like bigger chewy chunks, bake cubes of strawberries or just slice each strawberry in half to avoid creating dry wafery edges. My homemade strawberry fruit snacks turned out deliciously!
Mix dried strawberries with banana chips and nuts for a healthy snack or just eat them alone. Homemade strawberry fruit snacks have a sweetly tart taste that’s just as yummy as manufactured snacks. Dried strawberries are also a great healthy alternative to sour gummy candy!
