Fall is my favorite season and October my favorite month. I love the crisp cool air, the feeling of change, fiery colors and all the fun family activities. It’s also a busy month so I love savoring the chilly quiet mornings before the kids wake up and this homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe is perfect for these beautiful Autumn mornings!
Ideally my simple morning routine starts about 40 minutes before my toddlers wake up. I start with washing my face (or a quick shower) then make some coffee and get in some reading. Even if it’s just 30 minutes to myself, getting some caffeine, enjoying a refreshing facial, and filling my mind with good content makes a huge difference in my outlook on the day.
This incredibly refreshing Cucumber & Mint Pore Refining Facial Scrub from Moody Sisters Skincare is like a minty fresh wake up call for your face. The all-natural ingredients gently slough away dead skin and the peppermint oil leaves my face tingly-fresh, toned and tightened. This scrub would make a lovely gift for anyone in your life who could use some extra special pampering!
I follow this with their moisturizing Nourishing Facial Serum which smells lovely and has helped reduce the redness in my face. I love how lightweight it feels while still giving my skin the moisture and nutrients it needs. To combat tired puffy mom-eyes I use just a dab of their Nourishing Eye Cream under my eyes and after this little mini-facial my face is bright and ready for the day!
Moody Sisters Skincare products are made with earth derived ingredients and use only essential oils and fruit extracts for scent. Carefully formulated and made by hand Moody Sister products are designed for all types skin issues. The owners were also super helpful recommending the right product for my skin type! I really appreciate their attention to detail and customer care which is shown in the little details like a hand written note, attractive packaging and product samples included with each order. I am very impressed with the quality of these products and thrilled with the improvement I’ve seen especially with the dryness and redness in my face and the fine lines I’d had around my eyes. Coffee is Always a Good Idea
After waking up with a luxurious mini facial I grab some coffee or whip up this delicious homemade pumpkin spice latte (recipe below) and snuggle up in my Kindred Bravely Angelina Nightgown with a book in my favorite chair.
There’s just something wonderful about spending some time in quiet reflection and enjoying the morning in comfy pajamas before the business of the day takes over. These buttery soft pajamas are nursing and baby-bump friendly but I will wear them long after my nursing days are done because they are wonderfully comfortable and look nice enough to wear outside too! In fact this is my favorite outfit for wearing around the house on days we are mostly home. It’s cute enough to pass as a casual dress. Kindred Bravely makes some of the most comfortable nursing wear I’ve tried. I brought their Davy Pajama set with me in my hospital bag! I love that Kindred Bravely is very committed to helping moms through out their breastfeeding journey. Check out their other pajama styles, nursing bras, tanks and more at kindredbravely.com.
I sit and read, enjoying this delicious and all-natural Pumpkin Spice Recipe until I hear those sweet little voices saying “Mom? Mooooooom!” and then, let the whirlwind begin! My homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe technically makes 2 servings, but I definitely drink both of those servings myself throughout the morning.
Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
- 2/3 cup canned pumpkin
- whole milk
- 1 cup strong coffee ( I like keep a cold brew on hand in the fridge or make a single pour over cup)
- 1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (or ground cinnamon)
- 1- 2 teaspoons maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- In a medium sized sauce pan combine pumpkin, milk, coffee, spices and sweetener. Use a small whisk to combine ingredients well.
- Heat over medium/low heat until it reaches desired temperature. Stir often.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- For a frothier latte use an immersion blender at the end to really blend the ingredients well and give it that frothy latte foam!
- Top with whipped cream, frothed milked, or drink as is! I like to sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top.
Whether you enjoy a homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte as part of your morning routine or try it for an afternoon pick-me-up I hope you enjoy this delicious fall drink! What is your favorite part of the morning? What are some things you do to help mentally prepare yourself for the day?
As much as I enjoy having time to myself to refresh and prepare for the day, nothing brings me more joy than those early morning smiles and cuddles from my babies who are bright-eyed and excited about life!
Karen and her husband of 7 years have one active but very sweet toddler boy and a happy baby girl. She loves being mommy, spending quality time with friends and family, traveling and trying new things.
