Imagine walking into a closet full of clothes. Clothes that you're fond of, clothes that you've carefully selected, clothes that you've purchased with your — or your husband's — hard earned money. And yet, all you can do is look and feel, but you're unable to wear them. No, you're not in a bad dream nor are you even in a hypothetical situation; you're just the mom of an infant.
As a mom of a newborn who I am usually carrying and frequently nursing, I'm constantly challenged with what to wear. Some of my closet has been off-limits for the last three years because I've been either pregnant or nursing; a result of having two little ones who are just 21 months apart. Consequently, my mama wardrobe is suffering. Once again I'm currently nursing and plan to do so for another 15 months. My usual go-to top ensemble is a nursing bra and a tank underneath another top that I can hopefully pull up as I pull down my tank and open that nursing bra (if you're a nursing mama that probably makes sense). Also, since I carry my little girls pretty often, I select tops that are soft. I want to make sure that I'm wearing something that's comfortable for them to be against me.
All that being said, I think I found a shirt that I've been missing all these years! My new go-to top is the Lalabu Soothe Shirt. As long as I can keep up with washing it, I'm definitely going to be wearing it. It comes in black, purple, a limited edition brown, and also there is a SWL special edition design that I think is really cute. I received the limited edition brown Soothe Shirt. It is thin enough to layer and it is also great just on its own. I can spend all day in it because it is a stylish comfortable top for mom, a cozy pouch for baby, and is very comfortable to nurse in!
The Soothe Shirt's simple yet fashionable and comfortable design makes it pretty easy to style with many items in your closet. You can wear it year round just on its own in the summer heat, layered under a cardigan or a sweater in the fall, winter, and spring (yes, I live in that kind state — scorching summer and all other seasons are pretty mild). And beyond keeping mama stylish, the shirt is extremely comfortable for your child. Baby wearing is super sweet, especially in the first few months of your baby's life. I love keeping my little ones as close to me as possible for as long as I can. The pouch designed on this shirt makes babywearing so convenient and comfortable. I don't have to worry about making sure I have my baby wrap or carrier with me, instead I have a pouch that I can go ahead and slide my little one into. Please note that the Soothe Shirt is not a hands-free carrier, you do still support your little one with your hand(s). But even though my hands are not completely free, it is a lot more comfortable for me to have my baby in the pouch, and she seems more comfortable as well. The soft fabric doesn't make her sweat, keeps her nice and cozy against me, and I get to enjoy having her close to me as I walk, do things around the house, or play with my toddler.
Even if your child is asleep or is unable to hold his or her head up just yet, there is a flap that you can pull out and it'll support your baby's head.
The Soothe Shirt is designed in a way that you don't have to wear anything underneath, making nursing a breeze. All you do is pull down the flap while the shirt keeps your stomach and back covered. You don't have to worry about trying to lift your shirt up to keep it out of your baby's face. (Ignore the bright pink tank top in the picture; you definitely don't need to wear it underneath.)
Lalabu also has a current Indiegogo campaign featuring some new designs!
I'm excited to have this new piece of clothing added to my wardrobe. A comfortable mama is a happy mama. A soft multi-functional shirt is a winner in my mama life book. Many thanks to Lalabu!
