Learning you are pregnant can bring along a whole range of emotions; sheer excitement, sudden shock, and you may even wonder if you will make it through the 40 weeks of pregnancy. I've experienced the full assortment of feelings but each of my three kids have been entirely worth it and simply life changing little blessings when all is said and done. Each milestone brings an exciting new stage and there are many things you can do to make the time being pregnant pass comfortably. Here are a few of my pregnancy tips that have been successful for my 3 pregnancies in just under 5 years, that have totaled 120 weeks!
A full night of sleep can make you feel like a new person especially when you're pregnant. When I was pregnant with my youngest, I would often go to bed at 8 pm which was very uncharacteristic for me and I often took naps during the day. Pregnancy can really sap the energy out of you and when you rest you are able to recover some of that valuable energy and encourage a healthy pregnancy too. If you have other kids to take care of, nap when the kids are napping or if your kids are too old for naps, encourage them to read quietly on their beds while you rest.
Staying hydrated during pregnancy is so important, especially since dehydration can lead to premature labor. I always drank lots of cups of water during the day, which of course made me have to use the bathroom more often but it was worth it! I also made healthy homemade smoothies for myself and fresh juices, packed with spinach, berries, honeydew melon and fresh citrus. Go to town! Mix up a delicious combination, leave the alcohol out, sugar the rim, and kick back and relax. Your baby and your body will thank you for staying hydrated and eating healthy too!
Tight fitting clothing can be so uncomfortable during pregnancy but fortunately there are lots of comfy and stylish maternity options available. PinkBlush Maternity offers many gorgeous maternity dress styles and the classic maternity and nursing tops from Peek-A-Boo Maternity are so darling! If you don't want to buy special clothing for your growing belly you can always wear oversize t-shirts and comfy leggings that ride below the waistline. I practically live in my stretchy Girly Girl leggings that come in all sorts of cute and modern patterns!
Morning sickness can last weeks and weeks, which I know because I experienced morning sickness for up to 16 weeks of pregnancy. Some days nothing helps, but there are many options you can try to relieve your morning sickness. Ginger is particularly helpful along with some maternity teas. Preggie Pop drops are an innovative candy developed to help relieve morning sickness. These all natural drops come in several flavors including Sour Rasperry, Sour Lemon, and Green Apple, as well as classic Ginger. They taste yummy and you may find yourself hiding your "candy" from your other kids!

Get a jump on supporting your back while resting with a Back Buddy support pillow. You can also use this pillow while nursing when baby arrives. Without Back Buddy, I found myself tucking pillows in every which way to find the perfect back support.
Back Buddy is so helpful in preventing and relieving back pain while nursing an infant. Its firm support helps me maintain good back posture and be in a proper position for getting a good latch while nursing. I keep it next to my bed and use it during night time feedings when keeping good posture and positioning can be challenging. I've also been using it on our couch during the day even when I'm not nursing because I find the back support it offers to be so comfortable! Back Buddy is a great back support for bedtime reading, etc. long past the nursing stage. I would say a Back Buddy support pillow is a must have for any mommas experiencing back pain while sitting or nursing.
