These coordinating outfits from American Girl are such a beautiful gift idea that any girl will love! American Girl is one of those brands that I know I will find something I love every time I browse their catalog or website. My daughter looks so pretty in her matching dress with American Girl doll Maryellen.
My girls love the story of Beauty and the Beast. This classic story from Disney is a timeless tale that even preschoolers and toddlers can enjoy. My 4-year-old loves Belle’s twirling through the fields of dandelions and dancing across the ballroom in her yellow ball gown. The intricacies of the Beauty and the Beast storyline escape her, but that doesn’t prevent her from enjoying the overall story. My 2-year-old just tags along for the fun! We recently made some fun Beauty and the Beast inspired kids’ crafts so my daughters can twirl around the house as Belle, complete with her magic mirror and the Beast’s enchanted rose. I hope you enjoy our fun Disney inspired kids’ craft ideas!
We know all about little girls around here. My girls love ruffles, dressing up, and accessorizing with flower headbands. They need no convincing to try on new outfits unless my youngest is feeling particularly partial to her beloved purple tutu. If so, good luck convincing her to change. I’m excited to feature some of the latest fashions from Matilda Jane Clothing’s Once Upon a Time collection and our tips for how to make easy DIY Flower Headbands!
Little girls come with lots of personality, interests and preferences, and heads of tangled hair. My little girls wake up every morning with huge teased bedhead hairdos, so we start the morning routine with brushing out their locks. Don’t miss our simple hair tips and little girl fashion picks!
Moms know, stuff seems to pile up with each kid that you add to your family. The most intense stage for me is the baby stage, when you have to carry all of the baby’s things AND carry the baby. My 12 month old is so close to walking and once that happens I will feel like I’ve finally “arrived” in some ways. My baby boy is so eager to be able to get around on his own. Up until baby begins to crawl or walk and even after, there are lots of essentials that you need to bring with you everywhere you go. After experiencing all the happenings that come along with having 3 kids, here is my list of diaper bag essentials for covering your bases without bringing too much along.
In my family, I’m most blessed when I see my kids enjoy something I did for them or with them. I love doing crafts with my girls and hanging out in the evenings with my husband, watching Netflix. I honestly don’t feel like I need many gifts because I’m already so blessed by my babies’ smiles and giggles and warmth of my home. I enjoy cooking and cleaning (when I feel especially motivated) and I love decorating in ways that are kid-friendly, easy, and pretty. My favorite colors are dusty aqua and lavender and I love dressing up my girls in cute little outfits. I have 3 healthy kids under the age of 5 (and I wouldn’t mind having another) and I’m a stay at home, work from home mom who enjoys drinking lots of coffee — God has blessed our family much more than we deserve. What more could I wish for? So I when I say, “here’s my Mommy Wish List for the holidays!”, I just mean these mommy gift ideas are fun extras for stylish home decorating, luxurious products for making a mommy feel pampered, and fun toys that enhance a mom’s hobbies of photography and coffee drinking. (yes, I’m my family’s resident barista!) I’m sure you’ll find something you love on my gift list for moms!
Darling Matilda Jane Clothing fashions for girls that were designed by HGTV’s Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines are now officially available! You can find the 2016 Matilda Jane holiday lookbook here!
Family travel can be hard, especially when it comes to entertaining kids on long trips in the car or on the airplane. Star Kids Products offers several creative solutions for engaging your kids in tight travel spaces. This Snack and Play Travel Tray and Play n Go tray table cover offer portable play to engage your kids while on the go.
I’m always on the lookout for natural products that work well. Personally I haven’t purchased deodorant containing aluminum for years in an effort to limit my family’s exposure to aluminum. While I’m sure there’s a wide range of opinions about long term exposure to aluminum, I figure better safe than sorry. It can be hard to find deodorant with natural odor protection that actually works; of course no one wants to smell. I’m excited to share with you a wonderful brand of deodorant that not only gets the job done but has all the properties that I look for in natural odor protection. It also comes in a wide variety of fragrances, something for everyone!
I’m excited to share our fun kids’ mermaid themed room with you complete with mermaid dress up trunk, mermaid pennant banner and bunk bed friendly bed sheets!
Glamour is even more attractive when achieved naturally with wholesome and rejuvenating products. For kids especially, it’s important to teach habits that limit chemical intake and that nourish naturally. Skip the soda and make drinking water a daily healthy habit. Read the labels and don’t buy products with pore-clogging ingredients such as petrolatum and mineral oil. Make homemade lemonade and smoothies, rather than enjoying sugary drinks that include high fructose corn syrup. Establishing healthy habits within your family can go a long way toward encouraging your kids and yourself to live a healthy lifestyle. I’ve rounded up a few of my recent favorite skincare products to share with you!
Traveling with young kids can be tricky, whether you are challenged by entertaining your kids on road trips or navigating the sleeping situation at hotel rooms. Our family has traveled a few times with our kids and our experience has been different each time. We’ve learned some useful tips for traveling with kids as well as things to avoid, and we’ve tried some great gear that has made traveling with kids a whole lot easier!
With just 2 weeks left until my due date things are getting a little crazy around here. We’ve already had one false alarm where we thought maybe Baby Girl was coming a little too early. Thankfully she’s stayed put a while longer but the false alarm (and the fact that my first baby came fast and early) made me realize I really need to get things in gear and be prepared! I’m so relieved to have my baby girl’s nursery completely finished and ready to welcome her home but now I need to get myself and my hospital bags ready to dash out the door if necessary. With my first baby I definitively over packed so this time around I’ve scaled it down to the things I really will use and yet I like to be well prepared so I didn’t go completely minimalist. Here’s a look at what I have in my ready-to-go hospital bag the second time around and some tips for packing a hospital bag for yourself.
If your kids have ever watched the Disney show Sofia the First, you probably know all about Princess Sofia, Princess Amber and Prince James. This royal sibling trio go on many adventures and get into lots of mischief with their bunny pal Clover and other animal friends. One episode of Sofia the First specifically stood out in my daughter’s mind when we made “breakfast for dinner” the other day. My 4-year-old requested Sofia the First Goldenberry Pancakes, which Princess Sofia makes to celebrate her adopted twin siblings Amber and James’ birthday. Of course to properly enjoy Goldenberry Pancakes, she had to dress up as Princess Sofia and make her own magical amulet.
I have to admit, I don’t have a lot of time to do my hair. With two toddlers and a baby, I’m lucky if I even get a morning glance in the mirror. I have always felt strongly about doing my makeup before leaving the house because it makes me feel more put together, but hair often gets tossed up with a hair band. I recently discovered some awesome hair care products that not only strengthen my low-maintenance hair, but also have a great fragrance. Giovanni 2chic Ultra Repair hair care products cleanse, reinforce hair strands, and give my hair a natural shine.
Enjoy the last days of summer before school starts with these fun fizzy soda ice popsicles. They are super easy to make and even easier to enjoy! You kids can help assemble them and drop in the fruit and gummy bears. The only hard part is waiting for them to freeze!
I’m excited to show off my DIY wood wall art! At the end of last year I welcomed my first baby boy, inspiring some boy-themed nursery decor. I took words from Proverbs and painted three slabs of wood with the message “Grow in Wisdom, Grace, Strength and Courage” using custom lettering stencils!
My four-year-old celebrated her birthday this year with all the fanfare and a party, a Superhero-Mermaid birthday party to be exact. She loves celebrations, having her friends over to play, and parties that sparkle as much as her personality. Now that she’s four, she has lots of ambitions to do big girl activities; she learned how to ride her bike in a matter of 30 minutes thanks to the hours she spent practicing on her Strider balance bike. My daughter loves baking and helping mommy cook in the kitchen. She loves painting and doing crafts. My 4-year-old is also an amazing older sister to her two younger siblings. With all the activity in our house, it can be challenging to come up with activities for her to do. Here are some of the fun kids’ crafts we’ve done recently that are perfect for toddlers and kids!

Do you have a little princess in your home? These DIY lace crowns made out of stiffened lace are SO fun to design and pretty easy to make! I made these glittery lace crowns for a birthday party and as a fun photography accessory. I expected them to be more challenging, but all you need are the right materials and a warm, sunny afternoon to air dry your homemade crowns. DIY lace crowns are beautifully intricate and delicate looking, and they are completely customizable! You can use wide or thin lace, vintage or modern lace designs, and pointed or rounded lace. I’ve seen lace crowns with roses around the bottom and other silk flower embellishments. Take your crowns a step further with rhinestone and feather detailing. For my project, I make simple glittery lace crowns with a touch of color and glamour.
It’s easy to stay healthy during pregnancy by drinking nutrient-rich prenatal juices that are packed with berries, kale, citrus and more! Make your own or purchase delicious combinations that will give you extra energy and help support baby’s development.
When we moved into our new home last year along with the house we inherited a stack of old tires. We found out it actually costs money to have them properly disposed of or recycled and so they ended up sitting there as an unsightly stack in our backyard. Recently I got inspired to find some creative uses for old tires and it turns out there are all kinds of way you can re-purpose old tires! Here are some of my favorite creative uses for tires. Check out these fun ways to use tires and maybe you’ll find your next summer project!
As a busy dad, I am always looking for solutions to make my life with kids just a little bit easier. I’ve discovered some practical basics to help keep your life, car, and stroller a bit more organized so you can easily find the essentials when you need them.
Sometimes you just need a custom made sign. My darling Happy Heart wood wall art started out as an old cabinet door, transformed into a beautiful focal point on my wall. I have a lot of ideas for DIY wooden signs but I had to come up with a way to easily make them. I tossed around the idea of buying a vinyl cutter to make custom stencils but the start-up cost for the plotting machine and the vinyl adhesive material is pretty high. I did find a pretty easy solution to make DIY die-cut stencils for painted wood signs using printer paper, spray adhesive, and contact paper. I’m sure there are lots of ways to accomplish making homemade stencils for painting; this is just the route I went.
Get ready for the most delicious snack ever! Combine two of America’s most popular snacks, and what do you get? Chocolate covered goldfish! Make these chocolate-dipped goldfish for your kids, or for yourself. Granted, moms will probably eat most of them. All you need is melted chocolate (in a pot or microwave, take your pick) and a handful of goldfish. Dip each goldfish cracker in melted chocolate, let it dry, and enjoy!

I love taking something that was discarded and turning it into something beautiful. I found this chandelier at a local ReStore and if I was perfectly honest, my first thought was how ugly it was. True, I was seeing it out of context and it probably looked beautiful in its original Victorian style home; but at the recycling center surrounded by a variety of mismatched light fixtures, it just looked scrappy. I also balked at the price, $100, but after the second loop around the store I was inspired. A coat of spray paint could make this light fixture the focal point of a modern home.
As moms we want our children to eat healthy, nutritious foods that will help them grow and keep their tummies full. Kids can be picky eaters so finding nutritious foods that they will enjoy eating can be a challenge! I want to share one of our family’s favorite go-to recipes for a healthy breakfast (or lunch or dinner for that matter!) which we have found most all kids will love — Cottage Cheese Pancakes. Full of cheesy, gooey goodness, kids will love these and parents will love that they are full of healthy proteins, calcium and nutrients to fuel kids throughout the day.
