These coordinating outfits from American Girl are such a beautiful gift idea that any girl will love! American Girl is one of those brands that I know I will find something I love every time I browse their catalog or website. My daughter looks so pretty in her matching dress with American Girl doll Maryellen.
My little girls have always loved tutus and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to make! DIY tutus are fast and simple to make out of tulle and these fun sparkly skirts are perfect for dress up, a party, just for fun, and toddler or baby milestone photoshoots. You can easily make a no-sew tutu for your own baby or toddler even if you don’t have any sewing skills or sewing equipment. All you need is a few colors of tulle, a length of elastic and scissors!
We know all about little girls around here. My girls love ruffles, dressing up, and accessorizing with flower headbands. They need no convincing to try on new outfits unless my youngest is feeling particularly partial to her beloved purple tutu. If so, good luck convincing her to change. I’m excited to feature some of the latest fashions from Matilda Jane Clothing’s Once Upon a Time collection and our tips for how to make easy DIY Flower Headbands!
Little girls come with lots of personality, interests and preferences, and heads of tangled hair. My little girls wake up every morning with huge teased bedhead hairdos, so we start the morning routine with brushing out their locks. Don’t miss our simple hair tips and little girl fashion picks!
Moms know, stuff seems to pile up with each kid that you add to your family. The most intense stage for me is the baby stage, when you have to carry all of the baby’s things AND carry the baby. My 12 month old is so close to walking and once that happens I will feel like I’ve finally “arrived” in some ways. My baby boy is so eager to be able to get around on his own. Up until baby begins to crawl or walk and even after, there are lots of essentials that you need to bring with you everywhere you go. After experiencing all the happenings that come along with having 3 kids, here is my list of diaper bag essentials for covering your bases without bringing too much along.
In my family, I’m most blessed when I see my kids enjoy something I did for them or with them. I love doing crafts with my girls and hanging out in the evenings with my husband, watching Netflix. I honestly don’t feel like I need many gifts because I’m already so blessed by my babies’ smiles and giggles and warmth of my home. I enjoy cooking and cleaning (when I feel especially motivated) and I love decorating in ways that are kid-friendly, easy, and pretty. My favorite colors are dusty aqua and lavender and I love dressing up my girls in cute little outfits. I have 3 healthy kids under the age of 5 (and I wouldn’t mind having another) and I’m a stay at home, work from home mom who enjoys drinking lots of coffee — God has blessed our family much more than we deserve. What more could I wish for? So I when I say, “here’s my Mommy Wish List for the holidays!”, I just mean these mommy gift ideas are fun extras for stylish home decorating, luxurious products for making a mommy feel pampered, and fun toys that enhance a mom’s hobbies of photography and coffee drinking. (yes, I’m my family’s resident barista!) I’m sure you’ll find something you love on my gift list for moms!
Darling Matilda Jane Clothing fashions for girls that were designed by HGTV’s Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines are now officially available! You can find the 2016 Matilda Jane holiday lookbook here!
If your family enjoys Disney movies, you are probably looking forward to the next Disney creation coming to theaters November 23rd, the first Disney princess story starring a Polynesian princess named Moana. We hope you also enjoy these fun printable Disney Moana coloring pages!
On busy days is definitely tempting to throw a bunch of junk food in your grocery cart that doesn’t require cooking or peeling. It’s also tempting to buy your baby those tiny tubs of baby food, and I have bought them on several occasions. The other day I loaded 10 tiny tubs of baby food into my shopping basket, only to look down and evaluate the small amount of baby food I was paying $12 for. I put the baby food tubs back, went to the produce aisle, and instead spent about $15 on a whole acorn squash, a bunch of bananas, several sweet potatoes, apples, and whole carrots. I got a lot of fresh produce for my $15 and best of all, my baby got to enjoy healthy baby food purees that were straight from raw fruits and veggies packed with nutrients and even a little fiber. Happy baby!
With just 2 weeks left until my due date things are getting a little crazy around here. We’ve already had one false alarm where we thought maybe Baby Girl was coming a little too early. Thankfully she’s stayed put a while longer but the false alarm (and the fact that my first baby came fast and early) made me realize I really need to get things in gear and be prepared! I’m so relieved to have my baby girl’s nursery completely finished and ready to welcome her home but now I need to get myself and my hospital bags ready to dash out the door if necessary. With my first baby I definitively over packed so this time around I’ve scaled it down to the things I really will use and yet I like to be well prepared so I didn’t go completely minimalist. Here’s a look at what I have in my ready-to-go hospital bag the second time around and some tips for packing a hospital bag for yourself.
Bella B Bodycare is an all natural line of body care products created especially for mom and baby. I have used some of their natural skincare products designed especially for expecting moms and I received a set of Bella B Bee Gone Cradle Cap Shampoo and Bella B Silky Hair Conditioner which I’ve loved using for my little boy! Founded in 1999, Bella B is committed to crafting safe and natural products made with organic ingredients for both babies and mothers during and after pregnancy.
With 2 months to go until my due date and at least a month and half left of summer heat I am trying to thinking of all the ways my toddler and I can stay COOL! Let’s be honest my favorite way to stay cool these days is sitting on the couch in my air-conditioned home eating ice cream. My toddler however LOVES to be outdoors. All. Day. Long. And I love that he loves to be outside, I want to encourage that as much as possible. He also LOVES water. Pools, puddles, drinking fountains, the bath tub, dumping his sippy cup, he’ll do anything to play with water and get him self soaked. We don’t have a pool and so we’ve had to some up with other creative water play ideas for toddlers that will keep my little man entertained and keep us both cooled off. Here are some of my favorite outdoor water play activities for toddlers!
I’m excited to show off my DIY wood wall art! At the end of last year I welcomed my first baby boy, inspiring some boy-themed nursery decor. I took words from Proverbs and painted three slabs of wood with the message “Grow in Wisdom, Grace, Strength and Courage” using custom lettering stencils!
If you have little girls, you likely know all about tea parties, twirly dresses, and living room fashion shows. Matilda Jane Clothing makes lots of darling outfits for little girls that mix and match, and many styles grow with your child such as dresses that can also be worn as tops as a little girl gets older. I have two girls who can already trade clothes even though they are 2 and 4 years old. Matilda Jane Clothing makes their clothes swapping even easier!
My daughter learned about the tooth fairy from an older friend or cousin. Since then, she’s been eagerly anticipating her first tooth falling out. I told her she may have a few years to wait, being only 4 years old. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean we can’t have some tooth fairy inspired fun! These tooth fairy coins are a fun way to use old coins. I’m not sure who carries pennies anymore, since they seem to be obsolete even at garage sales. We found a few around the house that served perfectly for our tooth fairy coins! Using foreign coins would also work well, since many other currencies include tiny coins, perfect for this tooth fairy currency project. The daintier the coin the better!
Homemade crayon shapes are fun for kids to make and color with afterwards. Making chunky crayon shapes are easier for kids to grasp with their little hands and they won’t break as easily as regular crayons. We made a variety of crayon shapes using melted crayons and small cookie cutters. We even experimented with making layered colored crayon shapes! DIY shaped crayons is a fun afternoon creative project to do with kids.
The WellieWishers are American Girl’s newest collection of dolls, designed for girls ages 5 years old and older. These 5 friends each love dressing up, putting on shows, stomping in mud puddles, and being a good friend. We had the chance to check out the WellieWishers dolls Ashlyn and Camille. Each WellieWishers doll comes in a darling outfit that coordinates with their whimsical Wellie boots. I love each doll’s beautiful detailing and these dolls are just as well made as the classic American Girl dolls, with similar hair, faces, and features.
As a busy dad, I am always looking for the next thing to make my life with kids just a little bit easier and simpler. I’ve discovered some simple solutions to help keep your life, car, and stroller a bit more organized so you can easily find the essentials when you need them. Here are my top picks for dads on the go with kids in tow.
Get ready for the most delicious snack ever! Combine two of America’s most popular snacks, and what do you get? Chocolate covered goldfish! Make these chocolate-dipped goldfish for your kids, or for yourself. Granted, moms will probably eat most of them. All you need is melted chocolate (in a pot or microwave, take your pick) and a handful of goldfish. Dip each goldfish cracker in melted chocolate, let it dry, and enjoy!
