Isn’t it funny that sometimes the most inexpensive and fun projects end up being your favorite? Awhile ago I made my girls a DIY Rapunzel princess tower out of old food cartons and they still play with it! This inexpensive “doll house” has probably inspired more fun than many of our other more expensive toys. It was super easy to make and my preschool daughter had a lot of fun decorating her homemade princess tower.

Our family loves going on adventures. We also have 3 young kids which can make it challenging to find the right adventures to go on. Last year we decided to purchase an RV to make camping, road trips, and exploring new places a whole lot easier. Our RV is awesome because our kids can nap on the go, use the bathroom, and enjoy a fairly normal routine in our home away from home! Our first trip took us to Seattle where we visited one of our favorite places, the Woodland Park Zoo! Our kids have always loved seeing all the unique animals that live at the zoo, skipping along the zoo pathways, and enjoying the kid-friendly and sensory activities offered by the zoo. The day we visited the zoo was very typical of Seattle weather; misty and overcast. The weather didn’t dampen our adventurous spirits!
Little girls come with lots of personality, interests and preferences, and heads of tangled hair. My little girls wake up every morning with huge teased bedhead hairdos, so my husband starts the morning routine with brushing out their locks. He’s so funny, one of the things he most looked forward to about having girls was doing their hair, and he faithfully brushes it out every morning while I’m changing the baby’s diaper and picking up clothes off the floor. I actually have hair envy of my oldest daughters hair. It’s perfectly wavy and blond; not too much so it gets tangled, but not stick straight like mine. My daughter’s hair holds curl beautifully. I was excited to try out some new hair products too; the collection of SoCozy curl hair products for little girls.
Little girls bring with them lots of love, emotions, affection, tutus, and enthusiasm for accessorizing and creating pretty things. I have 2 girls in my house, and while I didn’t grow up with a sister myself, I’m quickly learning how to navigate the sister dynamic in our family. Most of the time we have lots of fun and special times together. My girls love playing pet shop and coloring alongside each other. Here are some fun outfits, accessories, and toys that were designed especially for little girls!

The kitchen can be the most popular place in the house and the messiest. I feel like I clean our kitchen about 10 times a day, and as soon as it’s clean the kitchen begins to get messy again. For moms with kids, maintaining a nice kitchen can feel like a losing battle. I’ve come up with some easy tips for keeping my kitchen welcoming and my counter clear and ready to whip up some muffins with my kids. I’m also excited to share some green cleaning tips for minimizing germs in your kitchen.
I’m almost 30, can I believe it? I don’t feel particularly old but I am realizing life is short, the years go quickly, and it’s important to treasure every moment especially during the super intense baby and toddler years. I’m sure I’ve gained a few wrinkles over the last few years caring for 3 young children, a husband, and a home. I’ve also learned it’s important to consider what I put on my skin and I’ve had run-ins with chemical filled products in the past. I have dry skin but yet still seem to get some acne even at 30 years old, except when I’m pregnant (win!). I had a chance to check out a skincare regimen from Le Mieux Cosmetics and I’m definitely impressed. My makeup routine is fairly basic out of necessity; and lets be honest, I put on my makeup at 11 am this morning with my 3 young children clamoring for my attention.

With 2 months to go until my due date and at least a month and half left of summer heat I am trying to thinking of all the ways my toddler and I can stay COOL! Let’s be honest my favorite way to stay cool these days is sitting on the couch in my air-conditioned home eating ice cream. My toddler however LOVES to be outdoors. All. Day. Long. And I love that he loves to be outside, I want to encourage that as much as possible. He also LOVES water. Pools, puddles, drinking fountains, the bath tub, dumping his sippy cup, he’ll do anything to play with water and get him self soaked. We don’t have a pool and so we’ve had to some up with other creative water play ideas for toddlers that will keep my little man entertained and keep us both cooled off. Here are some of my favorite outdoor water play activities for toddlers!
I’m excited to show off my DIY wood wall art! At the end of last year I welcomed my first baby boy, inspiring some boy-themed nursery decor. I took words from Proverbs and painted three slabs of wood with the message “Grow in Wisdom, Grace, Strength and Courage” using custom lettering stencils!
If you have little girls, you likely know all about tea parties, twirly dresses, and living room fashion shows. Matilda Jane Clothing makes lots of darling outfits for little girls that mix and match, and many styles grow with your child such as dresses that can also be worn as tops as a little girl gets older. I have two girls who can already trade clothes even though they are 2 and 4 years old. Matilda Jane Clothing makes their clothes swapping even easier!
My daughter learned about the tooth fairy from an older friend or cousin. Since then, she’s been eagerly anticipating her first tooth falling out. I told her she may have a few years to wait, being only 4 years old. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean we can’t have some tooth fairy inspired fun! These tooth fairy coins are a fun way to use old coins. I’m not sure who carries pennies anymore, since they seem to be obsolete even at garage sales. We found a few around the house that served perfectly for our tooth fairy coins! Using foreign coins would also work well, since many other currencies include tiny coins, perfect for this tooth fairy currency project. The daintier the coin the better!
Homemade crayon shapes are fun for kids to make and color with afterwards. Making chunky crayon shapes are easier for kids to grasp with their little hands and they won’t break as easily as regular crayons. We made a variety of crayon shapes using melted crayons and small cookie cutters. We even experimented with making layered colored crayon shapes! DIY shaped crayons is a fun afternoon creative project to do with kids.
The WellieWishers are American Girl’s newest collection of dolls, designed for girls ages 5 years old and older. These 5 friends each love dressing up, putting on shows, stomping in mud puddles, and being a good friend. We had the chance to check out the WellieWishers dolls Ashlyn and Camille. Each WellieWishers doll comes in a darling outfit that coordinates with their whimsical Wellie boots. I love each doll’s beautiful detailing and these dolls are just as well made as the classic American Girl dolls, with similar hair, faces, and features.

Yogurt popsicles are easy to make and fairly healthy too! All you need is several flavors of yogurt to layer inside a ice pop mold and freeze. We made popsicles with 3 flavors each, although you could make them single-flavored or any combination you choose! For an ultra-healthy version, use plain Greek yogurt sweetened with honey.

Here are some fun preschool activities for keeping kids busy during the summer.
