My 4 year old LOVES school. She wants to go to school, she wants to play school, she wants me to pretend I'm picking her up at school. So when this first week rolled around, she was all too happy to waive goodbye to Summer Vacation and start school. Granted, our school routine involves 2 hours in the morning of singing, writing the letters of the alphabet, doing preschool worksheets, making kids' craft projects, and eating snacks. I'm pretty sure I have creative ADD, so my daughter gets to do way more crafty projects than the average kid probably does, even if I have to pay for it later with a mess to clean up. Regardless, the first day of school has never been so fun!
LOVE this darling Matilda Jane hair bow!
My daughter loves putting on fashion shows. And ballet shows, and dancing shows. Fortunately for back to school I had recently shopped some of the awesome sales at Gymboree. I love their clothes and very affordable prices! These cute tops and leggings were $6 and the dresses were $12! I love affordable kids clothes, especially since my kids will inevitably paint in them. The cute black shoes with leaf designs are from another favorite brand; See Kai Run offers many styles of kids shoes that are not only adorable, but also designed to promote healthy foot development. Love!

Glitter Slime is the best. We made goopy sensory gel in about 5 minutes using water, Borax, and clear school glue. Full tutorial coming soon! Our sensory glitter slime held my girls' attentions for a good hour. I think that's a record. This glitter slime really is amazing; it's fun to squish and bend, and it holds together in a huge slimy blob. I stored it in an airtight container for lots of future sensory preschool fun.
A preschool taste test is a really fun way to have lunch! Just put 12-15 different foods in a muffin tin and allow your child to label them; salty, sweet, bitter, sour, and spicy. My daughter loves doing taste tests and she was amazed to learn about the different parts of the tongue that allow us to taste different flavors.
Paper character puppets are also an awesome preschool kids' craft. Just print out any coloring page in a small size and turn your coloring page characters into a puppet!
How was your kids' first week back to school?
