My little girls love playing together and discovering new ways to have fun. This week we went to the splash pad, ran around the yard, made some yummy snacks, and enjoyed the awesome summer weather. It's been the perfect summer temperature this week; not too hot and not too cold. We live in smaller town and some of our extended family has property; my girls love helping to feed the chickens and running around open fields. One of this week's highlights was shooting some pics for Matilda Jane. Matilda Jane Clothing makes lots of darling outfits that mix and match, and many styles grow with your child such as dresses that can also be worn as tops as a girl gets older. I'll be posting a full Matilda Jane photoshoot soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime, how much do you love this hair bow?! My little girl is sweet and sassy, she's just beginning to find her words and share the thoughts that are behind her big blue eyes. I'm loving watching my kids' personalities develop and discovering their interests and personal styles.
This little girl loves chalk and playing outside. She wants to escape the house every chance she gets. Our family had lots of fun exploring a local botanical garden last weekend. My daughter was a late walker at 19 months! I was so relieved when she started getting around. It's the toughest stage when you have to "walk" your child everywhere, but much needed as your toddler learns to gain their balance. Now she can explore our backyard by herself and follow big sister around unaided. I love these Matilda Jane dresses because they are perfect for romping around in. They literally go with everything! These cute heart leggings from Doodle Pants pair perfectly with these Matilda Jane dresses. Matilda Jane Clothing also sells lots of leggings with ruffles and cute trim. I keep an eye on their new collections, and their occasional Good Luck Trunk limited time sales.
We have big news! Our 4-year-old quickly learned to ride a big kid bike by herself, in literally a matter of about 30 minutes! I believe this is because she has spent so much time riding her Strider Bike balance bike. Strider Bikes require kids to find their center of balance as they glide along. There aren't any pedals to get in the way; to go a child has to push off the pavement with their feet and to stop they have to put their feet down. My daughter has used her balance bike alot this year, gaining the confidence she needed to ride a big kid bike. We entirely skipped the training wheel stage. Yay for Strider bikes! I especially love that the Strider Bike was designed by a dad for his own kids. We are a big fan of parent-entrepreneurs here at Mommy Scene! (Actually most of our contributors are parent entrepreneurs.)
Strider Balance Bikes help kids practice the important skills needed to balance on a conventional bike. These balance bikes allow kids to skip the training wheel stage, gaining confidence quickly and mastering riding a bike. My daughter learned how to pedal and balance on her big girl bike in under a hour on her first try, after practicing with her Strider Bike for several months. It's crazy how quickly kids can zip around on these balance bikes. Definitely more fun than training wheels!
The Strider Bike is very adjustable for kids with two different seats that adjust in height. The plastic wheels, rubber handles, and durable construction allow a kid to focus on what's most important — balancing! It's no surprise Strider Bikes are a Green Scene Mom Award Winner celebrating innovative product design!
While my daughter is zooming around on her balance bike, my little guy is more than happy to go along for the ride. He is the happiest baby we could wish for, which is staying alot because our other two kids were also very chill babies. He loves attention from his big sisters, and I can just imagine how much fun they are all going to have together. And yes, this little guy always has a smile on his face. He's also super comfy in his Cozy Blanket Pouch by Revelae Kids, keeping him cozy from the waist down thanks to the soft elastic waistband. Cozy Blanket Pouches are great for travel, napping, or lounging around. A baby can't pull the fabric up near their face, and they are hard to kick off because they are secured around the waist. The blanket pouch material is so soft and plushy, my little one has often cuddled it to himself like a stuffed animal. Cozy Blanket Pouches are a must have for any baby shower wish list! Cozy baby blanket pouches are also a Green Scene Mom Award Winner!
Kids love playing, going on walks, and snacks! I thought this snack box from Yum Yum Fun was pretty cool. It comes with a variety of snacks that are actually decently healthy; nuts, Veggie Straws, trail mix, fruit snacks, and granola bars. It's perfect for sending to your child in the college dorms or at summer camp. This diverse snack box is also marketed for military care packages which I thought was a pretty cool idea for sending to a loved one in the military. We received it for home use, and this fun snack box has created a new snack time routine in our home. My kids love waking up from naps and excitedly picking a snack from the Yum Yum Fun snack box. It's a fun event for them, and has even introduced some new foods they otherwise wouldn't really ask for.
Pictured here are all snacks from the Yum Yum Fun snack box. Snacks include Veggie Straws, Skinny Pop, a huge assortment of granola bars, trail mix, cheese crackers, snack mix, spiced peanuts, fig bars, fruit snacks and more! This is a great box to buy for a family road trip to have a wide variety of snacks in one closable box. Shop on Amazon ».
Speaking of snacks, we don't often go out without one of our Eco-friendly snack containers. This cute "garden" Yummi Pouch cloth snack bag is very useful for holding cheese crackers, pretzels, gold fish crackers, and even apple slices. It's moisture resistant and closes with a zipper that my toddler can open herself. I love the darling patterns; Yummi Pouch cloth snack bags are available in 16 cute prints designed for little boys and girls. I usually hand wash our cloth snack bags and let them air dry, but you can also wash them in the dishwasher or washing machine. Yummi Pouch cloth snack bags easily fit in a lunch box and are perfect for making lunch a little more Eco-friendly and saving money on disposable bags for going back to school. Learn More »
We also regularly use our twist open, stackable snack containers from Re-Play. These containers fit together in a tower and each container can be filled with a different snack. I chose to keep them separate for two different children, but I could stack them all together and topping them with a lid. These colorful Eco-friendly snack containers come in a variety of colors and hold up very well throughout regular use and cleaning; we've had ours for longer than two years. Re-Play Snack Stacks are a fun way to give each of your children their own personal snack. See our full Re-Play review!
