A lot of things are about to change for our family this fall as I am thrilled to announce we are expecting a new baby girl! There is a lot to do as far as setting up a nursery and making arrangements to make the transition from one to two kids as smooth as possible. I have been putting together a little “New Baby Wish List” as I consider what items I'll need for our new baby girl! A lot of things will be re-used from her older brother but there are some items I'll need to re-stock and other items I'll want to have new and just for her (especially since she'll need some sweet pink in her life!). Here are a few of my favorite must have baby items for my new baby to give you some ideas for your own baby wishlist or baby registry!
First of all, there's the essential consumable items like baby skincare, diapering and first aid items. It's always a good idea to have a small stock pile of these so you have them on hand and ready to go once your newborn arrives. Along with infant saline drops and infant pain/fever reducer I want to have gas drops and teething tablets available for those miserable times of discomfort and pain! Hyland's is a homeopathic company that makes quality natural products for the whole family. I love Hyland's Baby Gas Drops and Baby Teething Tablets! They worked quickly and naturally with my first born to bring relief from gas and teething symptoms that can effect any baby at different times. First aid and skincare items are great to add to your baby registry and stock up on before baby comes! Check out hylands.com to learn more and see the wide variety of natural baby products they offer.
My favorite diaper cream is Baby Butz Cream, said to be “the safest, most effective diaper rash cream available without a prescription.” I loved using this cream for my son when he was a newborn (click to see my past full review of Baby Butz Cream). This diaper cream goes on thick and was super effective at clearing up his bout of diaper rash and using it regularly kept diaper rashes away completely. For us it's a must-have for that sensitive newborn skin! babybutz.com also has some great tips for preventing diaper rash.
Since we are expecting a girl this time around I will be looking for some good quality crib sheets, blankets and sleepers in pretty pinks and florals! Good quality swaddle blankets are an essential in my book. My first baby loved being swaddled and I find muslin swaddle blankets are so versatile. I used them for nursing covers, car seat covers, floor blankets, sometimes even burp rags! For my baby girl I wanted some new swaddles just for her. I am in love with these Margaux & May X-Large Organic Muslin Swaddling Blankets! They are much larger than other swaddles blankets I had for my son and much softer. The Poppies and Corn Flower prints are so unique and sweet! I cannot wait to snuggle my baby girl wrapped up in one of these gorgeous blankets. Check out margauxandmay.com to see their other stunning prints and see our full review of these blankets here.
Except for maybe getting a couple new bottle nipples I won't need any new bottles for this baby since I have plenty from her brother and we only used them occasionally. However when my babies are about 6 month old I start inducing solid foods (avocado, bananas and organic whole-milk yogurt are some of my favorites to start with). Good infant spoons are something I need to restock on since so many of my son's have gone missing over time! Re-Play Tableware which is an eco-concious company that creates a wide variety of kid's tableware from recycled plastic, makes a great set of Infant Spoons. The spoon end is shaped well to fit easily in a little one's mouth while also holding a good amount of food on the spoon. The long handle on this ergonomically designed spoon is easy for mom and baby to hold together as baby learns to self feed. They come in a pack of 4 and I love that they come with a carrying case to keep them clean while on the go! Re-play offers a wide variety of tableware and on-the-go snack items for kids, see our past full review here or visit re-play.com
Something I wish I had done for my son was to pick a special (yet comfortable) outfit to bring him home from the hospital in. He ended up wearing a random hand me down sleeper that I didn't really care for, and so all our special first pictures are of him wearing that. For my daughter I found this adorable yet simple Silkberry Baby Organic Cotton Footed Sleeper. It's so soft and comfortable for baby, convenient for dressing and changing her and yet looks so sweet in the Blush Pink Bunny design. These Silkberry sleepers have reversible zippers and I highly recommend sleepers that have zippers especially for newborn stage. No one wants to fumble with up all those tiny buttons during a 3AM diaper change! Silkberry Baby is a unique, Green Scene Mom Award winning line of Eco-friendly baby clothing, bedding and accessories, see our full review of Silkberry here and visit their website to check out all the adorable clothing and bedding they have to offer. silkberrybaby.com.
This is more of a fun item to celebrate my first girl; I really want her to have some fun (yet practical) accessories! I am in love with both of these precious "Her First Bling Bow" and "Her First Bow" hats from Infanteenie Beenie! These darling Infanteenie Beenie newborn hats are made from super soft, stretchy medical grade newborn hospital hat material. They will keep baby girl's head warm and yet they make a bold fashion statement at the same time! These will be perfect for all those photos we'll be snapping of her in the hospital and during her first weeks at home. Infanteenie Beenie hats come in cute drawstring gift bags and they have a wide variety of styles including boy hats! If you need a unique, fun yet practical baby shower gift idea these hats would be perfect. Shop all their beautiful styles at infanteeniebeenie.com
A few stimulating toys with bright colors and interesting textures for infants to explore are definitely a must have! Babies are constantly observing and learning and I like to choose toys that will encourage and stimulate their developing motor skills and audio/visual senses. I received a set of Lamaze toys from TOMY and they really are some of my favorites for baby's first toys! Lamaze toys by TOMY offer the highest quality infant play products, loaded with features that engage and entertain baby. My son loved his Lamaze Mortimer Moose Clip & Go toy and I'm sure my daughter will have fun with this adorable Lamaze Fifi the Firefly toy! There's so much to explore and chew on on this Clip and Go toy which can attach to strollers, diaper bags, etc. that it makes the perfect take-along-toy for when you're out and about with baby.
The Lamaze Peek-a-Boo Forest Soft Book is an interactive book with peek-a-boo flaps on each page. It has that fun crinkle fabric that babies just love and the bright colors and pictures will captivate their attention. Reading is such a great way to interact with your infant and this little book make it that much more fun for infants to engage in story-time. Also the adorable Lamaze Soft Chime Garden is a delightful way to awaken baby's auditory senses! Not only does it help develop hand-eye coordination with all the things touch, tug and bat but it plays 3 different modes of music to stimulate baby's developing auditory senses! The cute little flowers even light up along with the music. Even my 18 month old found it fascinating to play with. Add these fun stimulating toys to your own baby registry and check out their website to learn more tomy.com/lamaze.

I get emotional looking at these sweet little outfits, hats, and blankets that my baby girl will be wearing before long. I cannot wait to welcome her to our home and snuggle her in my arms. Isn't amazing how much you can love them before you've even seen them? I know it's going to be difficult in the beginning having two little ones so close in age but we are doing our best to prepare now! Getting stocked up on some baby essentials (and baby fun things!) is just a small part of it.
