Summer can bring changes in schedules and lots of time spent outdoors. As a mom of 3 kids ages baby to preschooler, I know it can be tricky to get outside with enough clothes, snacks and gear for everybody. Just the basics include extra diapers, one outfit change per kid, bottles and formula, sippy cups, and snacks. We usually end up bringing ALOT more with us. Here are some of my favorite products designed for moms and families that have really helped us enjoy the summer that much more.
Sweet Tea whipped body polish is perfect for summer pampering after a long day. Swipe a dab of this luxurious body polish onto your loofa for a soothing experience in the shower. This whipped body polish from Farmhouse Fresh Goods smells just like sweet tea and is infused with peach, ginger, orchid and white tea. Sugar grains and peach stone powder exfoliates the skin without causing it to feel tight, dry or stripped of natural oils. It also contains Shea butter which hydrates and provides a healthy glow. Sweet Tea Shea Sugar Whipped Body Polish is 90% natural and paraben & sulfate free.
Coco and Kiwi makes one of my favorite diaper bags. I've loved using this my cheerful "purse" diaper bag. I forget it's a diaper bag but it's just as functional as one. The Sydney Diaper bag is made from durable faux leather in a colorful Jade hue with sturdy hardware and straps. It has a shoulder strap, handles, and even stroller straps that are detachable. Everything fits inside the roomy bright pink interior! I've used this universal diaper bag for a few months now and it's held up very well. The Sydney bag's streamlined style has lots of pockets and pouches; interior and exterior pockets that zip closed, and a wipeable exterior. My toddler even colored on it with a pen, which I was able to mostly wipe off, and the rest of the pen marks have slowly worn off over time. The leather material only has a few flecks of wear on it, mostly along the straps and a few edges because I haven't been entirely gentle with toting this modern diaper bag around. Overall I love Coco and Kiwi's Sydney diaper bag and I plan to continue using it even when I'm past the diapering stage with my kids.
Are you on the go this summer with your kids? Buttons Cloth Diaper wet bags are useful for so many things. First, they are pretty, featuring modern PUL fabric that's decorated with flowers, chevron, or darling gray and yellow petals. If you're going to the park, pool, or splash pad with your kids, just tuck one of these universal wet & and dry bags into your purse to hold extra clothes, and store any soiled clothes that get wet from outdoor summer play.
For home, I especially love Button's large wet bags that can hang over the doorknob and store all your soiled cloth diapers until you are ready to wash them. Buttons Diaper's modern PUL wet bags zip closed to hold the smell and moisture in, and they are easily washable along with the rest of your laundry or cloth diapers.
Stylish nursing wear is an essential for nursing moms. We love Bun Maternity's every day styles and universal nursing tanks and ponchos. They're comfortable to wear at home and stylish enough for a date or mom's night out. See our full Bun Maternity review here!
LullaBelay cart carrier is a lifesaver when it comes to shopping with kids. Did you know it's not safe to put your baby car seat carrier in the shopping cart seat? Most store shopping carts have a warning on the cart advising against this. But what's a mom to do when you need the cart space for your groceries and you are lugging along a car seat with precious cargo? LullaBelay has designed a strap system that securely attaches a car seat to the handle of the shopping cart; the car seat hangs down near the axle of the shopping cart. It's perfectly balanced and the shopping cart can't be tipped over (my husband has tried and tested this). If you think this shopping accessory looks like a bad idea, it's because you haven't tried it! I have tried the LullaBelay on many occasions. The LullaBelay shopping cart strap system allows me to place my two toddlers in the shopping cart seat, secure my baby to shopping cart handle and comfortable shop in Costco without having to get a second cart for my groceries. See our full LullaBelay review!
The LullaBelay looks unstable: Nope, I've used this car seat strap system lots. It's not possible to tip the cart and it securely keeps the baby carrier safer than if I placed my baby car seat in the shopping cart seat (which it could fall off of).
The LullaBelay makes it hard to walk in front of the shopping cart: Nope, I'm 5' 11" and my husband is 6' 4" and neither of us are able to kick the car seat while we are shopping. The reason is, the LullaBelay suspends the baby carrier near the shopping cart axle, so it doesn't interfere with your stride while walking.
People who see me using the LullaBelay with my children always ask if I invented it and express amazement about how ingenious it is. This shopping cart strap is made by Fiddle Diddles for moms to free up cart space and keep their baby safe and secure in their car seat as they shop.
Obviously I'm a fan of this wonderful product! I'd have a hard time getting through a store with my 2 toddlers and baby without the LullaBelay! It's also a recent Green Scene Mom Award winner!
Yummi Pouch Brights reusable food pouches are also awesome. I'm a bit partial because I created them for my own daughter when she was 6 months old as an Eco-friendly alternative to disposable food pouches. We use them to hold baby food, smoothies, even chocolate pudding! My favorite age for using Yummi Pouch reusable food pouches is 18 months and older. By then a child can hold their own food pouch, and Yummi Pouches actually empower my toddler to feed herself and ask for healthy snacks. She often sees our Nutri Ninja Auto-IQ blender and asks for a Yummi Pouch reusable food pouch. I love that, because even though we've sold thousands of Yummi Pouches to other families, my own daughter loves them too. Big sister is more than happy to use a Yummi Pouch for snack time too, as she gets older I'll put a reusable food pouch in her lunch box with apple sauce or yogurt, allowing me to minimize trash and save money by buying healthy blended snacks in larger containers, rather than individual cups. And in about a month or so I'll begin making homemade baby food for my little guy and I can use Yummi Pouches to freeze batches of baby food, tuck them into my diaper bag, and feed my baby boy on the go using a reusable food pouch that's reusable and Eco-friendly. For the baby food stage, I'll have to hold the pouch for him as he learns to enjoy his fresh and healthy baby food filled with whole foods and nutrients.
Yummi Pouch cloth snack bags close with a zipper and are ideal for taking popcorn, fish crackers (or chocolate covered fishies), cookies, and pretzels along with you. They are moisture resistant but not air tight, so you'll have to replenish your snacks after each trip. These cloth snack bags are a great Eco-friendly alternative to disposable plastic baggies and come in 16 modern and adorable patterns for kids.
All in all, this is some great stuff to enjoy life on the go this summer. Because as moms we know kids always want to go; to the splash pad, park, pool, or just sit outside in the sandbox. Kids love sunshine and water play. If you're feeling challenged on how to keep kids busy during the summer days, remember they are only kids once and their imaginations fuel their enthusiasm for play. I try to find practical ways to engage with my kids during the summer, whether it's making a magical nap time fort, letting them take the hose into the sandbox, or finding unique ways to encourage sensory and educational play. What helps you get out of the house with your kids during the summer?
