VTech is always coming up with cool gadgets for kids, and the Kidizoom Smartwatch is no exception. It's a great first watch for preschoolers who are just learning how to tell time and also cool enough for bigger kids who can fully explore its many games, "apps", and physical fitness challenges. The fun colors and interactive 3D graphics are eye-catching and transform this watch into an interactive tool that's far beyond the typical kids' watch.
Recommended for ages 4-9, my 3-year-old has only begun exploring the features offered by the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch. Her favorite features are the animated clock faces you can change with a simple swipe of the screen, the fitness counter that records your footsteps, and the counter to record number of jumps. It also has a built-in photo and video camera, photo frames and filters for your snapshots, customizable clock faces that include digital and analog displays, a voice recorder, alarm, timer, calculator, and calendar. 8 action and motion games are also packed into this nifty device. See all the features here.
This tech-savvy watch is especially perfect for my daughter because she is already familiar with using apps on a phone. The watch uses the same swiping motion as a phone or tablet to move between features. Since my daughter is not likely to get her own phone or tablet anytime soon (or for a long while), the VTech smartwatch is a fun device to call her own, designed for kids who are already intrigued by technology. It comes in several bright colors and graphical themes and uses a micro USB cord to recharge.
The Kidizoom Smartwatch is just as customizable and versatile as a phone. You can choose from 7 different wallpaper backgrounds, easily change the time and date, and access settings like volume and brightness with the push of a button and swipe of the screen. Once familiar with the watch, kids can easily change these settings themselves.
The Kidizoom Smartwatch is a great way to encourage kids to exercise. Activities offered by the watch include Racing Run which records the number of steps you take (jogging vs. sprinting) within a given time interval, Funky Jump (jump counter), Crazy Dance, and a pedometer (general step counter). My daughter loves jumping up and down and seeing the number increase on the watch counter; the little character on the watch jumps with her too!
If your kids have a hard time feeling tired at bedtime, this watch makes it easy to introduce an afternoon fitness routine of jumping and running, and making it a game by counting steps and jumps!
The smartwatch is also helpful for teaching your child the concept of time, showing how time passes during the day, and teaching the hours of the day, such as "we have snack time when the watch shows that it's 2:00 pm". You can set the timer for 20 minutes for quiet reading time, letting your child know she can resume playing once the timer goes off. The colorful 3D analog displays are a fun way to begin to teach a preschooler how to tell time.
The VTech Smartwatch offers entertainment on-the-go and it's perfect for travel and keeping kids entertained in the car. My daughter regularly tells me, "I love my watch!" The soft silicone arm band is comfortable to wear all day long. It also has a convenient touch screen, it's splash proof, includes a rechargeable battery, and has the ability to download more games and backgrounds from the VTech Learning Lodge.
Definitely check out this cool smartwatch if your kid is intrigued by technology! It's entertaining, educational, and encourages healthy fitness routines. Plus it's stylish and all around cool too!
