Most of us love decorating for Christmas but it can be challenging with tiny tots around! You may have replaced dainty Christmas tree ornaments with colorful unbreakable balls, but not all Christmas decor has to go out the window. Here are some child-friendly decorating ideas that can be completed in minutes — kids can even help too!
Placing utensils in a small stocking is a fun way to add a festive touch to your Christmas table. Use monogrammed stockings as favors to mark guests' seats at a dinner party or create a tradition and reuse them every year with your family.
Fill clear ornaments with glitter, puff balls, bells and other sparkly small items. Kids can help fill each ornament to create a design all their own (you can even buy clear plastic ornaments). Cut out an initial using glitter scrapbook paper and glue it to the outside of the ball. These make perfect place-setting favors too!
Have your kids decorate two identically-sized construction paper Christmas trees that you cut out for them. You can even glue on photos as personalized ornaments. Cut a slit in the top of one tree and another slit in the bottom of the other tree, slide the two trees together at a right angle to each other, and hot glue the edges to make a cute stand-up table decoration.
String marshmallows to create "falling snow" in your living room or over your Christmas table. Simply tie white thread around large and small marshmallows, making a strand of 8-10 marshmallows per thread. Hang the strands from your ceiling with push pins. Super easy and kids will love helping!
We love the simple versatility of apothecary jars. We filled them with fresh cranberries and branches cut from our Christmas tree. Just fill them with your own decorative accents and put them up out of reach. Easy as can be! Our votive candles are simple glass cylinders wrapped with a strip of scrapbook paper, which can be customized to match any color scheme.
A pretty folded napkin adds a simple, pretty touch to a table. We love this snowflake design and have used it for many occasions. Check out the detailed tutorial at pineapplesandpalmtrees.com.
