Baking Christmas cookies and holiday treats is a tradition for most families. My girls are old enough now that they can help in the kitchen! This week we made gingerbread cookies cut into hearts, stars, snowflakes, and gingerbread men. My girls incidentally don't like the taste of gingerbread (or most other cookies other than chocolate) but they had a lot of fun baking holiday cookies for our friends and neighbors! All you need to make gingerbread cookies is a good gingerbread recipe. I rescued our cookie cutters from the play dough box and let the girls cut out their own shapes!
Do you want to build a snowman, or a gingerbread ice castle? We did! Our family has been staying cozy indoors and we needed a fun DIY project. With temperatures in the single digest outside, it's hard to do much of anything! My girls have been enjoying short romps in the snow followed by a warm mug of hot chocolate, and today we built a Frozen inspired gingerbread ice castle perfect for a snow queen! I baked the gingerbread the night before so it had time to fully cool. I made some pretty thick sheets, which I then cut into shapes while it was still warm. My gingerbread shapes cooled and hardened overnight, creating the perfect building blocks for our fun DIY gingerbread ice palace!

One of my favorite thing about the holidays is receiving cards from friends and family. I love seeing pictures of how much everyone has grown and photos of the new babies welcomed into each family that year. It's also very fun to send out a holiday card and our annual holiday card has become a fun keepsake for our family each year. I usually save one per child so someday they will have a collection of all our family holiday photo cards. Where do you get your photo cards? When shopping for holiday photo cards, I look for quality, affordable pricing, design options, and it's definitely important to pick a company that's easy to order my holiday cards from! Minted offers all of these benefits and more! A lot can change in a family in one year. For us this last year, we welcomed a new baby boy, our baby girl turned 2 and our toddler turned 4. We enjoyed some family trips and hikes and lots of play dates with friends. The holidays are the perfect time to review your year, celebrate family, and share the highlights of your year with family. Some families send out updates through a Christmas letter, while others send a personalized holiday card. I appreciate receiving cute holiday photo cards that we can put up on our fridge and think about our friends near and far. It's also fun to design and send out our own family Christmas card, which is an easy project to accomplish thorough Minted.com. I'm amazed by the hundreds of card designs offered by Minted, each designed by uniquely talented artists and featuring a wide variety of styles. I'm excited to share with you some of my favorite Minted card designs!
