Healthy Eating Tips for Families with Kids

Eating healthy can be a challenge for any family, especially if you have picky toddlers in your home! We have loved using our Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl Duo to create healthy and delicious smoothies, snacks, meals and even desserts for our family. I find myself using the Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO multiple times a week during meal prep. The Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO offers multiple settings and an Auto iQ Boost option which allows you to control the texture and consistency of your ingredients by adding pulses and pauses at right the right time. This makes food prep quick and easy by allowing me to chop, puree or blend my ingredients exactly how I want them with a touch of the button. It’s wonderful for making things like salsa, salads, granola bars, etc. that are made of multiple nutritious ingredients which the Nuti Bowl fuses together beautifully.  The Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO even comes with a dough blade for making homemade breads and dough.

We really enjoy making healthy smoothies and juices with the Nurti Ninja Extractor Cups. You can whip up your drink right in the travel cup which attaches to the blender blades. My husband likes drinking a hearty protein based smoothie in the morning and the travel cup lids that come with these cups make it convenient for him to take one on his way out the door in the morning. Healthy Smoothie Combinations

Berry Banana Smoothie – Blend together frozen berries, 1 banana, Greek yogurt, handful of spinach leaves, and ice.

Mango Smoothie – Blend together mango, milk, yogurt, honey, and ice.

Pineapple Smoothie – Blend together pineapple, orange juice, vanilla yogurt, banana, and ice.

Green Smoothie – Blend together 1/2 ripe avocado (peeled & pitted), 2 cups spinach, 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, honey, and ice.

I was impressed by how well the Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO handles raw fruits and veggies (including skins and seeds!) turning them into a tasty juice drink with no chunks. Since the Ninja Nuti Extractor uses the whole fruit or vegetable by breaking it down into a smooth puree or liquid (unlike a juicer which discards the fibrous parts) this is a great way to get all the benefit from all the vitamins, minerals and fibers that fruits and veggies offer. Toddlers can sometime have a hard time eating raw crunchy veggies and adding them into smoothies or other dishes is a great way to ensure your children are getting all the nutrients their growing bodies need. One of our favorite recipes that came in the Ninja recipe book are the Broccoli Tots! Adults and kids both like these and they are a great way to sneak extra veggies into your kids’ meals.

Delicious Broccoli Tots

Broccoli Tots are so easy to make in the Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO. It chopped up the broccoli and onion perfectly and since I was out of bread crumbs, I made my own! I simply toasted a couple pieces of bread in the toaster (well-toasted) and let the Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO chop them into crumbs for me in just seconds.

Once your broccoli and onion are chopped and the bread crumbs are ready, mix all ingredients together in a bowl.

Then shape the mixture into nuggets (I made mine slightly smaller than the recipe calls for because I like them on the thinner and crispy side) and place on your prepared cooking sheet. The powerful Nutri Ninja Nurti Bowl DUO has been a great way to enrich our diet at home with healthy foods made from scratch and it also makes it easy to eat healthy on the go. It makes for easy meal prep and I am looking forward to experimenting with using it to make healthy baby food from scratch once my little girl starts eating solids.
