I have four words for you: painter's canvas drop cloth. This stuff is straight from crafters' heaven. I had no idea it existed until a few weeks ago when my mom introduced me to it. Since then I have become totally obsessed. Turns out people are recovering couches with it. Matting pictures with it. Making curtains and table cloths with it. WHERE HAVE I BEEN??? I had to make up for lost time. I went straight for the big leagues: RUGS.
Rugs are one of those things that have always taunted me. They can be oh-so-chic and stylish but they are usually super expensive. This cloth is the perfect solution. You can get a HUGE piece of durable, heavy duty fabric for around twenty bucks at a hardware store. When used as-is it is best for a patio rug. Perfect for under a patio table. You can spray it with the hose and let it air dry and it will last forever. The best part? It is a giant canvas to unleash your pent up creative energy on.
Large stencils would be awesome but since I didn't have any on hand I used painters tape, leaves, and my own imagination. I am loving the way they turned out. The kids love it, too. I set them up at the table with their art supplies and we all go to town with our painting.
Head to the hardware store, grab some drop cloth and enjoy! Contact me at mommyreel.blogspot.com for tips and tricks on how to make this project go smoothly!
