My life with young kiddos is made up of many busy days and kid-friendly activities. I’ve found it successful to have a loose schedule so my kids know what to expect each day. We do preschool most weekdays and the kids learn the alphabet names and sounds, practice writing letters and numbers, and we usually do a creative project. Once my kids finish a few pages of their school workbooks, it’s fun to enjoy a snack before doing a simple science activity or craft.
Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday to celebrate with the people you love! These creative Valentine’s Day kids’ projects, sensory activities and yummy snacks are some fun ways to make the holiday memorable for your family.
One my favorite things about having girls is seeing them enjoy the toys and activities that I loved as a child. American Girl is one of my all-time favorite brands. I loved collecting the American Girl dolls and accessories, making my dolls custom clothing and choosing new outfit sets from the AG catalog. I gave my oldest daughter my Truly Me American Girl doll as soon as she was old enough to take care of her and we’ve grown our collection with several new BeForever Dolls and the WellieWishers Camille and Ashlyn. My girls also enjoy dressing up American Girl’s latest BeForever doll Nanea Mitchell, a Hawaiian girl from 1941.
One of my favorite things about cold weather is the cozy accessories and back to school gear that we stock up on every year. Backpacks can also double as fashion accessories for kids to tote their toys around in. These trendy fashion picks are fun for a wide range of ages and any girl who loves dressing up and accessorizing.
Learning how to swim is a great skill kids can use year round and swimming lessons are especially important for water safety. Sun Tail Mermaid fins are a fun way to encourage kids to learn how to swim and get comfortable around water.
My kids love collecting tiny toys. They enjoy adding to sets they already have and they love setting up little play sets and making up story lines. My girls typically are able to play pretend around age 3, and now that both my girls are older than 3 they have lots of fun playing together and setting up their toys. We recently discovered some fun play sets from Wicked Toys that feature re-imagined mini versions of the Cabbage Patch dolls. My girls loved checking out the details of these miniature Little Sprouts play sets and also discovering which surprise creatures were inside their Egg Babies!
My kids love being cozy and new pajamas are an exciting and practical gift. Finn + Emma soft Organic cotton pajamas are a great choice for baby and toddler pajama sets. I love the soft modern patterns and roomy designs that also fit over cloth diapers!
The winter holidays are my favorite time of the year. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are wonderful opportunities to create memories with my family, establish traditions and throw festive parties! Don’t miss our ideas for kids’ styles and fun holiday activities.
Do your kids always ask to play with a tablet, game console or smart phone? Even my toddlers know how to swipe a touchscreen, open apps and start a show on Netflix. It’s important for parents to limit screen time so kids can enjoy playing with low-tech toys and hands-on activities that encourage kids’ imaginations and coordination. Here are some low-tech toys and ideas to engage kids in the car, at home and during play time.
