Our family loves going on adventures. We also have 3 young kids which can make it challenging to find the right adventures to go on. Last year we decided to purchase an RV to make camping, road trips, and exploring new places a whole lot easier. Our RV is awesome because our kids can nap on the go, use the bathroom, and enjoy a fairly normal routine in our home away from home! Our first trip took us to Seattle where we visited one of our favorite places, the Woodland Park Zoo! Our kids have always loved seeing all the unique animals that live at the zoo, skipping along the zoo pathways, and enjoying the kid-friendly and sensory activities offered by the zoo. The day we visited the zoo was very typical of Seattle weather; misty and overcast. The weather didn't dampen our adventurous spirits!
It's always fun to kick off a new year with fun movies to look forward to! Disney does not intent to disappoint, with exciting new family movies that cover almost every genre! I'm very excited to check out the live action Beauty and the Beast and watch the second volume of Guardians of the Galaxy. I think we all want to see Baby Groot in action! Of course Disneynature's upcoming Born in China movie will delight kids with close up nature experiences and wonders, following the stories of three animal families including a rambunctious monkey, nurturing mother snow leopard, and mommy and baby panda family. Don't miss all the exciting new Disney movie details below, including movie trailers! Which new Disney movie is your family most looking forward to??
Little girls come with lots of personality, interests and preferences, and heads of tangled hair. My little girls wake up every morning with huge teased bedhead hairdos, so my husband starts the morning routine with brushing out their locks. He's so funny, one of the things he most looked forward to about having girls was doing their hair, and he faithfully brushes it out every morning while I'm changing the baby's diaper and picking up clothes off the floor. I actually have hair envy of my oldest daughters hair. It's perfectly wavy and blond; not too much so it gets tangled, but not stick straight like mine. My daughter's hair holds curl beautifully. I was excited to try out some new hair products too; the collection of SoCozy curl hair products for little girls.
We used to travel for the holidays, but with 3 young kids family travel during the busiest time of the year has just become too challenging. We stay home for holidays in our own cozy house, celebrating our own Christmas traditions. But we do love going on adventures, so when we do get out, we've come up with some ways to keep our young children happy and engaged, despite changing daily routines. Whether you are going to grandma's house, embarking on a weekend family adventure, or going on a much anticipated family vacation, here are some tips for traveling with a young family.
Baking Christmas cookies and holiday treats is a tradition for most families. My girls are old enough now that they can help in the kitchen! This week we made gingerbread cookies cut into hearts, stars, snowflakes, and gingerbread men. My girls incidentally don't like the taste of gingerbread (or most other cookies other than chocolate) but they had a lot of fun baking holiday cookies for our friends and neighbors! All you need to make gingerbread cookies is a good gingerbread recipe. I rescued our cookie cutters from the play dough box and let the girls cut out their own shapes!
Do you want to build a snowman, or a gingerbread ice castle? We did! Our family has been staying cozy indoors and we needed a fun DIY project. With temperatures in the single digest outside, it's hard to do much of anything! My girls have been enjoying short romps in the snow followed by a warm mug of hot chocolate, and today we built a Frozen inspired gingerbread ice castle perfect for a snow queen! I baked the gingerbread the night before so it had time to fully cool. I made some pretty thick sheets, which I then cut into shapes while it was still warm. My gingerbread shapes cooled and hardened overnight, creating the perfect building blocks for our fun DIY gingerbread ice palace!

Traveling in the car with a newborn and toddler makes it tricky getting anywhere on time but there are a few tips I've been practicing that might help you better manage your coming and going with little ones this Holiday season.

You know how bed skirts can be a real pain? They get tucked up under the mattress, ride up and become crooked, and you constantly have to arrange them and straighten them to look good. I finally "had it" with our bed skirt arrangement and used the opportunity as an excuse to design a brand new one! I'm excited to share with you my solution for having the perfect looking bed skirt all the time, every day, no arranging required. My bed skirt has been on my bed for several months now, and I haven't touched it once since putting it into place!

One of my favorite thing about the holidays is receiving cards from friends and family. I love seeing pictures of how much everyone has grown and photos of the new babies welcomed into each family that year. It's also very fun to send out a holiday card and our annual holiday card has become a fun keepsake for our family each year. I usually save one per child so someday they will have a collection of all our family holiday photo cards. Where do you get your photo cards? When shopping for holiday photo cards, I look for quality, affordable pricing, design options, and it's definitely important to pick a company that's easy to order my holiday cards from! Popular retailers include The Children's Place and Old Navy with 4% cash back. You can stock up on discounts from Groupon and get 6% cash back! I tried out Giving Assistant with my latest Etsy Purchase, and I'm excited to share my experience with you.
Going to the movies is a fun family holiday tradition. There are always great movies that come out around Christmas time. Disney has lots of excitement in store for this holiday season, with new releases Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE (now in theaters), for Disney princess enthusiasts MOANA (Nov 23) and another high-action treat for Star Wars fans ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY (Dec 16). Check out the trailers and cool production images for these new family friendly movies!
If you're a Marvel Fan and a Benedict Cumberbatch fan, you should probably go see Marvel's new movie DOCTOR STRANGE. I haven't seen it yet, but with 2 toddlers and a baby in my house, I'm pretty sure the last movie I saw in the theater was awhile ago. I can't actually remember.
I do look forward to seeing this awesome Marvel movie as soon as I can! My husband and I love BBC's Sherlock show, so it would be very fun to see Benedict Cumberbatch in a new superhero role. Here are some of the most recent clips from this new movie, now in theaters!
A newborn baby brings unimaginable joy and happiness. They can also bring unimaginable exhaustion and stress. There are so many ups and downs the first few months with a new baby and some days time seems to drag (especially when your hubby is late coming home from work!). And yet when you look back it all went by way too fast. Here is how we survived the first month with a newborn and toddler as well as some simple things I'm doing to keep my sanity.
