At the party we enjoyed the host's Chorizo Hominy Chili. And when it was time to leave, we each took home a quart of each other's soup. Disney's new live action Cinderella movie turns the enchanted cartoon most of us grew up watching into a fully detailed drama of the love-story-beginning between Ella, an "honest country girl" and Kit, an "apprentice learning his trade". While the story is well known, the new Disney movie offers vivid detail and captivating character development, while reinforcing values of courage, kindness, and finding acceptance in being who you are.

I always love movies with leading actors and actresses who aren't super over-used. This makes a movie all the more magical for me, since I am able to focus on the story instead of how well so-and-so is fulfilling the role. Disney's live action Cinderella stars Lily James as Ella, Cate Blanchett as stepmother Lady Tremaine, Richard Madden as the Prince, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother. The Downton Abbey fan in me was also pleasantly surprise to recognize Sophie McShera (a Downton co-star with Lily James) as step sister Drisella. Each character and supporting character did an amazing job filling their role in this fun and modern re-telling of Cinderella.
